Game Analysis:

Yea, that’s not the ideal way to close out game five. Playing defense is apparently optional in today’s NBA, especially for the C’s. But you better believe that will only fuel the Celtics for Game 6 in Atlanta. In fact, the last time the Celtics were in the playoffs (last year), they won a majority of their games away from TD Garden, which is tough for the fans but great news for this game 6.

The Hawks, specifically Trae Young, are a great team. And if anything what last night proved was that this team was better when it was being solely run through Trae. After a shaky start to the series, scoring 16 points and then 24 points, Trae hasn’t been below the 30-point threshold. He has been cooking so far, and if the Celtics have any hope in ending this series that has just been dragging on, they’re going to need to make him inefficient. The more shots they can make this guy take to get to his 30 points, the better. Other than Trae Young, no one on this Hawks team has been beating the C’s. In fact, in game five whenever a player on the Hawks (besides John Collins whose majority of shots are dunks) took more than nine shots, they missed more shots than they made. It is worth it to point out that the Hawks won game five because they absolutely dominated the fourth quarter. They outscored the Celtics 37 to 25 in that final quarter, which allowed them to win the game by two.

In that same vein, as long as the Celtics don’t forget their job is to play basketball for all four quarters in game six they’ll win it no question. They were winning this game by at least ten points for most of the second half, and they collapsed quicker than wet paper at the end of the fourth. Jayson Tatum needs to wake up from whatever nightmare he was stuck in for game five. He went 1 for 10 from three, and 8 for 21 on the day. I’m incredibly confident that in game six at least a few more of those threes go in and then boom the Celts would have won by five, or even six. And for the love of all that is green and Irish, play Timelord in all of the crucial minutes. I love Blake Griffin, he’s a Blake of the Year, but there is no reason for him to get six minutes of game time in the fourth quarter. There is way too much riding on this series. Expect Joe to make some changes, and expect Tatum to remember how to shoot a basketball.

The Celtics are still a better team than the Hawks, they’ve just had an off quarter. Bet on the Celtics moneyline & get $200 in bonus bets instantly!
