Game Analysis:

Oh. Baby. A north side-south side grudge match baby. These are the series that everyone tunes in for no matter who you watch. As for who I think will win, well, I really don’t like to put myself out there for these types of Chicago grudge matches. However, I will say that Cubs, so far into the season, have won more total games than the White Sox. (But the White Sox hit baseballs to the moooooooon).

The Chicago White Sox have had a relatively disappointing season. They currently sit fourth in the American League Central with a record of 41 and 58. And while that doesn’t look good on paper if you truly scan through their stat sheet it paints a very different picture. Their Central Fielder Luis Robert Junior and Third Baseman Jake Burger have both hit more than 20 homers. That is better than a lot of teams who have way more win shares than them. Luis has hit 28 ding dongs himself which has him sitting at 3rd in the league in the category. Not only that but he has a .272 batting average, which is top 50 in the league, and 57 RBIs which is top 30 in the league. I mean this guy is having a phenomenal offensive season with his fellow teammate Jake Burger not that far behind him. And you can bet your butt that those stats will only skyrocket in this same city heavyweight slugfest. On the other side of the game they have Andrew Benintendi who decided that this season, balls don’t drop in his outfield. He has a 100% fielding percentage in left field with no signs of slowing down.

The Chicago Cubs are no pushovers either. They sit third in the National League Central Division with a record of 46 and 51. They, along with their fellow Chicago-based team, have four players with 10 or more home runs. Patrick Wisdom is leading the charge in this statistic with 17 home runs but with a batting percentage of.198. Not the greatest combination. In terms of a complete batting season so far, I think his teammate Christopher Morel has him beat with a batting average of .268, 15 home runs, and 42 RBIs. He’s also managed to put in this type of work while only batting in 56 games. And if you want to talk about a guy who doesn’t let balls drop in his outfield then look no further than Ian Happ. This left fielder is someone who has fielded 91 games and still has maintained his 100% fielding percentage. Insane.

Who’s gonna win this year’s rendition of the Chicago Classic? Who knows, but bet on either team and get your own Friday Beers merch!
