Game Analysis:

Who would’ve thought that a National League rivalry game involving the Diamondbacks would mean anything at this point in the season, but hey, that’s baseball for ya. The third-place team in the NL West takes on the second-place team in the NL West with a real chance of leapfrogging them and taking the higher position. Will the Diamondbacks grab their first real chance in a while to get into and make noise in the playoffs? Or will the San Fran Giants make that mountain even more difficult to climb? Only time will tell, but man will this be a great series.

The Diamondbacks started so well man. They were like, on top of the entire National League for what felt like a good long while before they started slipping at the halfway mark in the season. I was really rooting for them too. I love it when leagues have a major changeup in their power rankings landscape, and the Diamondbacks being one of the best teams in baseball would have absolutely been considered a change. Plus, how can you not love this team? They have it all. They’ve got two sluggers on this team in Corbin Carroll and Christian Walker who just can’t help but hit tanks. They’ve got 21 and 22 homers respectively on some pretty solid efficiency as well. They’ve also got a pair of outfielders who both have a 100% fielding percentage and zero errors. So that doesn’t hurt either.

The Giants are also both a fun team to watch and a solid team. As of writing this article only a game or two separates these two teams in the standings so this should be a real grudge match for playoff contention. The Giants have what the kids call depth in their hitting department. Do they have the top-end talent that Arizona has? Maybe not. But they do have six different guys who all have more than ten different ding-dongs so far this season. That is some elite team baseball being played. In a lot of ways that’s almost more dangerous because imagine going up against a batting rotation as a pitcher that consists of nine guys. Now imagine that two of them are elite hitters, maybe you choose to walk those two guys or take a chance and they hit a solo home run. Now imagine that two-thirds of the lineup can take the ball yard on you. One sounds much worse than the other. On the other side of the game, Mike Yastrzemski has a 100% fielding percentage in center field. This man won’t let any balls drop in his outfield. hitters beware.

This is going to be a great game no matter who wins. Bet on either team and get your own Friday Beers merch!
