Game Analysis:

The Mets against the Orioles. Well, it’s definitely an East Coast grudge match, and let’s just say the Mets are lucky they’re not the Yankees, or else this would be an inter-division beatdown. The Mets are like the tailored suit you paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for, making sure it had the exact measurements you wanted, only to get shipped to you too short in the sleeves and a little tight in the pants. It’s wearable but definitely not at the price you paid for it. Whereas the Orioles have more or less come out of nowhere and taken the entire American League by storm.

The Mets have one of the most expensive rosters ever, and yet they still sit fourth in the National League East. Saying I’m unimpressed feels like an understatement. I know I keep talking about it but imagine if the Warriors roster hadn’t beaten the Celtics? They at least made the playoffs this last year, but even then, they didn’t make it to the Western Conference Finals and they’re already starting to blow it up. Even though this Lamborghini of a roster is the definition of mid they do have some bright spots to them. For instance, Pete Alonso is a home run machine. I don’t care which pitcher in the Orioles lineup is pitching, they had better look out for the registered weapon the is Alonso’s bat. He has 30 moon shots so far this season along with 75 RBIs which sticks him at third and seventh in the league for those respective stats.

The Orioles, though, are just a better team. They have fifteen more wins than the Mets this season and fourteen fewer losses. They haven’t tried to buy their way to wins, but instead took the long approach, and suffered through some horrible years to get this success they now have. This batting lineup has got to be terrifying to face for pitchers. Instead of one guy who has been lighting it up the Orioles have 5 different guys with 13 or more homers this season, and the distribution of RBIs is exquisite. Oh, and have you heard the saying “Balls don’t drop in my outfield”? Yea, that statement is true for two-thirds of the Orioles outfield. As in both the right and left fielders for the Orioles have zero errors and a 100% fielding percentage. So Pete better hope he brought his home run bat because if you don’t make it past the fence on these guys, good chance you’re walking yourself back to the dugout.

This is going to be a great East Coast game, but the Orioles should win it. Bet on either team and get your own Friday Beers merch!
