Game Analysis:
A little inter-divisional violence this wonderful first week in August, eh? That’s just the kind of thing I like to see. It’s not a direct competition unfortunately with the second-place team playing the fourth-place team in the AL Central, but you can bet that it’ll still be entertaining as heck. It doesn’t matter if you’re top of the division or bottom, you still want to take home those series wins against rivals when you can. When it comes to the outcome my best guess is that the Guardians pull out the series win, but these same-division games are so tough to guess on.
The Chicago White Sox have been lackluster at best and not great at worst this season. They’ve got a couple of gems on an otherwise pretty bang-average roster, and I don’t know if that will be enough to give them an edge over this Cleveland team. The gems I’m referring to are of course Luis Robert Junior and Jake Burger. One of which has the most American name I might have ever heard and also sends baseballs into space. Jake has 25 homers to his name this season to go along with 52 RBIs. Livin’ up to his name he’s been cookin’ so much in the batter’s box you’d think it was the Fourth of July. Whether the pitchers want it medium-well, burnt, or raw, he knows just how to serve ‘em. Luis Robert Junior has somehow been an even better slugger this season with 29 home runs, 60 RBIs, and a batting average of .269. He has been leading the team in two of those three categories with no sight of slowing down. However, as I said before, the rest of this roster leaves much to be desired, and no one on their team is an expert on the defensive side of the game
The Cleveland Guardians do not have the same star power as the White Sox, but what they do have is some amazing batting averages. Their home run leader is Jose Ramirez who not only has 18 balls that he’s returned to sender but has a .292 batting average to go along with it. His second-in-command in the ding-dong department has been firing off balls at a clip of .306. That man would be first baseman Josh Naylor by the way. Josh has also got himself 79 RBIs which has him at solo fourth for that statistic. Not a bad stat to be top-five when it comes to the business of winning baseball series. Oh, and the Guardians actually have fielders that don’t make a million errors when they play out there. Myles Straw has a 100% fielding percentage with a total tally of zero errors.
The Guardians are the better team in this matchup, so I’d rock with them, but bet on either team and get your own Friday Beers merch!
