Game Analysis:

Alright, alright. Let’s be honest with ourselves for a second. The Baltimore Orioles are a better team than the San Diego Padres. I don’t care how many players the Padres purchased, I don’t care how much their team is worth, the Orioles have been a consistently better team on both sides of the plate. They hit better and they field better and last time I checked that’s what you need to win. Give me Baltimore all day long in this series.

The Padres were potentially the most disappointing team in baseball this year. And not a single soul was surprised. They were meant to be a juggernaut this season. I mean look at the talent they’ve been acquiring over the years. Juan Soto, Xander Bogaerts, Manny Machado, and Fernando Tatis Jr are all big names in the MLB, yet for some reason, they can’t string a few wins together. Juan Soto has been hitting pretty well at least with 24 homers, 75 RBIs, and a batting average of .272. And Manny Machado hasn’t been much worse with hitting totals of 21 home runs, 67 RBIs, and a .251 batting average. And yet they still sit at 56 and 60, and more than a few games out of the playoff picture. I don’t know if these guys just don’t go bowling enough together or don’t go to enough happy hours together but whatever it is this team of all-stars has been incredibly disappointing.

The Baltimore Orioles are, by contrast, one of the most impressive teams this season. They sit atop one of the more competitive divisions in the MLB, the AL East, with a record of 71 and 45. And while the names on their roster may not be as sexy as the Padres they do manage to string wins together. Looking at the roster they’ve got some heavy hitters of their own in Anthony Santander and Gunnar Henderson. Santander has 21 home runs, 64 RBIs, and a .253 batting average. Henderson has 19 home runs, 51 RBIs, and a batting average of .237. That’s a pretty ridiculous one-two punch in it itself, but then when you add on the fact that the dropoff of hitting is nonexistent, the team only gets scarier. On the fielding side of things, the Orioles of course have an outfield with a close to 100% fielding percentage and pretty much zero errors. That’s what the best teams in the MLB have.

The Baltimore Orioles have been the better team this season and will continue to be. Bet on Baltimore and get your own Friday Beers merch!
