I’m not gonna lie, if you had told me even last season that this was going to be a game that I would have trouble projecting the outcome to I would have called you a liar and spit in your face. The fact that we are currently in a world where I can see Newcastle beating Manchester City is insane. I’m still rocking with City in this matchup, but I would not be surprised at all if Newcastle ended up beating them.
Newcastle has been on an absolutely gargantuan rise in the past few years. They have added talent all over the place from all over the place. And all it took was getting bought by one of the richest people on the planet. It’s so easy! But all joking aside this team is amazing. In the offseason, they added Harvey Barnes, Sandro Tonali, and Tino Livramento to their already deep squad. At least two of these guys and probably all three are going to be starting on 99% of premier league teams. This team is not only primed to win in the Prem but also make a deep push into the Champions League, a feat they earned by coming in fourth last year. Oh, and in the first week of the season, they absolutely destroyed Aston Villa, a team that many in the industry were comparing them to.
Manchester City is still the cream of the crop in the Premier League though and until they start playing worse you can’t bet against them. Erling Haaland already has a brace and we’re one game into the year. This guy simply isn’t real. He was put on this earth to terrify defenses in soccer and score goals. That’s it. And of course, this team still has pretty much all of its other world-class players that they had when they won the treble last season. Yes, this team was so good that they won both the Champions League and the Premier League at the same time. Until Newcastle or anyone for that matter purchases Mbappe and Lewandowski and Messi there is nothing anyone can do to beat Manchester City.
