So this is an interesting one. What opened as a fairly large spread has drastically shrunk as it seems oddsmakers think the Gators will be able to keep it closer than they originally estimated. It has been a struggle these last couple of years as Florida was only been able to win six games a season in 2021 and 22. That being said one of those wins last year was an upset over the Utes. Mertz will be the signal caller for the Gators after a rather erratic start to his career with the Badgers. There is a question mark surrounding the quarterback for Utah, will Cam Rising be healthy enough to start? Sure this isn’t the Florida team of the last 2000s but they might be able to compete with a strong Utah squad.
Now Utah is coming off of what I would consider a pretty solid successful campaign. 10-3 outright and 8-5 against the spread with one of those losses coming to the Gators. Sure they have some solid offensive players and a good offense overall, but man that defense is scary. If it’s anything close to what it’s advertised as, Florida will have some trouble moving the ball against the Utes. They’re well coached, deep at skill positions, with well rounded offensive and defensive lines. Sure this game might be closer than some Utah fans would like, but with that being said I think they should still be walking away from this one with the win.
