Look, going undefeated in sports is just plain hard. Whether it’s basketball, baseball, soccer, or football. Collegiate and professional alike. It’s no easy feat. Now having said that, USC is currently undefeated and they have the current Heisman winner on their team, so they could do it. Or, they could be like every other team in the history of ever and lose one or two games that you think they could have won. Like the 2007 Patriots with the Super Bowl. Thanks, Eli Manning! So why not have that fluke loss be against an inter-conference team like Arizona?
USC is a great collegiate team. And if you bet on them, and the greatest collegiate quarterback in the game right now, Caleb Williams, I wouldn’t blame you a bit. The man has thrown for 21 touchdowns and about 1600 yards. He can definitely win his team football games as he’s proven several times already in this short season. Between him, runningback MarShawn Lloyd, and receiving pair Tahj Washington and Brenden Rice this team is not left wanting on talented skill position players.
However, there is always at least one game every single year where we sit back and think, how the heck did that happen? And it’s almost always when two teams are playing each other from the same division. The few Arizona losses this year, even against electrifying Washington, have been only one-score losses. That means these guys have been hanging in there till the whistle is blown. They’ve got a lot of fight in them, and if they don’t outright win I would not be surprised at all if these guys covered. Jayden de Laura and Tetairoa McMillan have seemed to develop a lovely bit of chemistry up to this point in the season and I really think they have a chance to do damage against this USC defense.
USC may be the better team but Arizona almost beats Washington. I think Arizona has a chance to do something crazy here. So bet on Arizona!
