Game Analysis:
Week 9 of college football is here and I couldn’t be more excited. BYU faces the Texas Longhorns this week in Texas. BYU is not currently ranked and after last week’s win over Houston, Texas is ranked 7th in the nation. Going based off of ranks I think Texas is going to take this game and keep their season alive.
BYU is a good team but they are not as good as they were when they had the mom stealer, Zach Wilson. BYU is 5-2 this season so they are still doing really well but not compared to different power 5 schools. Last week they beat Texas Tech and now they are back in Texas but it is not looking too hot for them right now with this matchup. Last week BYU’s quarterback, Kedon Slovis, didn’t have the best game of his life. He threw for 127 yards and had 2 touchdowns. LJ Martin had 10 carries with 93 rushing yards. Their defense didn’t have any sacks but had 3 interceptions. It is safe to say that the defense carried the offense in this game and clearly defense wins games.
Texas is a really strong team and in this matchup I think they are going to blow BYU out of the water. Texas is 6-1 right now and aren’t looking for a loss in this game. Texas beat Houston last week 31-24 and had some crazy stats. Quarterback Quinn Ewers went 23/29 with pass attempts, had 211 passing yards and had 2 touchdowns. Jonathon Brooks had 20 carries with 90 rushing yards. Receiver Xavier Worthy also had an incredible game with 6 receptions, 92 yards, and 1 touchdown. This team has been firing recently and they are going to stay firing against BYU.
This game is pretty clear to me that BYU is going to get killed and go back home with a loss. Texas is such a great team and they have continued to prove it. Hopefully it is a thrilling game to watch and not an absolute blowout.
