Game Analysis:
This Cincinnati team is the best team in the MLS. You don’t have to believe me though, just look at their record. And while the Columbus Crew are not the worst team in the league, they’re overmatched in comparison to FC Cincinnati. They sit sixth in the league and they have fewer goals scored, more goals allowed, and less overall talent on their roster. But I don’t think you guys need me to convince you that a team who has been better all season than another team will continue to be better.
The Columbus Crew are a solid team in the MLS. They currently sit sixth in the table, with potentially some time to move up before the playoffs. They’re not the most talented team but players like Cucho Hernandez and Christian Ramirez have been holding it down as best they can through the season. Hernandez has had a great season with five goals and 10 assists, and Ramirez has been Columbus Crew’s top scorer with eight goals across his 19 appearances. And while these two guys do make up the ceiling of talent for the Crew, it definitely doesn’t bode well when your team’s top scorer only has eight goals, especially this deep into the MLS season. It’s not necessarily a deal breaker, but Messi has been in the MLS for about four games and already seems to have like four or five goals himself.
FC Cincinnati has not been the definition of mid this year and instead has been the best team in the league. Their high-end talent is actually high-end, and while their counting stats aren’t as ridiculous as the other teams in the MLS it’s their team play and distribution of talent that gets them their wins. It also doesn’t hurt that they have USMNT’s own Brandon Vazquez on their team who leads the team in goals and is second in assists. He’s used to playing against some of the best players in the world so the defense of the Columbus Crew is not going to give this man any trouble at all. I don’t really know what else to say here when the team I’m talking about has only two losses this entire season. They win. They’re good.
