Game Analysis:
Late season SEC football is always a blast, and in this week 12 matchup we have the back to back reigning national champion Georgia Bulldogs traveling to Knoxville to take on the Tennessee Volunteers. 2nd ranked Georgia enters with a 10-0 record, and a spot booked in another SEC championship game. Tennessee meanwhile comes in at 7-3 following a blowout road loss last week, and will look to regain momentum late in the season with a massive upset.
Georgia has completely bulldozed their way through their 10 opponents this year, with only one win being decided by 1 score. Their last two wins have come in dominant fashion against a pair of top 15 teams, and yet with all the success we’ve become accustomed to from this team over the last few years, it feels like this team isn’t getting talked about enough. Even without their top weapon, TE Brock Bowers, who is expected to return for the postseason, this team has been dominant with QB Carson Beck leading the way. He had a nice showing last week in a 52-17 win over Ole Miss, throwing for 306 yards and two touchdowns. This defense is still really good too, which makes this perhaps the most complete team in the country.
The Tennessee Volunteers came into last week ranked 13th in the CFP rankings, but they are sure to drop following a 36-7 road loss to 14th ranked Missouri, in a game where they were dominated on both sides of the ball. Unfortunately for them, it won’t get any easier this week as they host arguably the top team in the nation. The offense had three turnovers in last week’s game, which ruined some drives on which they were able to march down the field. The defense also was unable to stop the run at all, giving up over 200 yards on the ground. Taking all of that into consideration, as well as the fact that the Volunteers are no longer in contention for the SEC title and might be lacking motivation, I have a really hard time picking against Georgia in this one, and I think the Bulldogs make yet another statement on their way to another college football playoff berth.
Always bet responsibly!
