Ladies and gentlemen, we are finally so so back. The NCAA Tournament is back after an unreal conference tournament week, and I’m more excited than a kid in a candy shop. One of the opening matchups is Kansas vs Samford, so let’s break it down.

Looking past the names of these schools, let’s give Samford some respect. Winning 29 games this season. “Bucky Ball” has been very effective, the system named after the Samford head coach where 10 players get at least 12 minutes a game, three-pointers rain down, and this squad likes to run. Achor and Staton-McCray lead the team scoring 15.8 and 11.6 points a game respectively. While definitely a dog, this is a scary opponent and should not be slept on.

Now while Kansas has the pedigree and name recognition, there are some question marks here that should be addressed before you make picks. McCullar Jr. and Dickenson are questionable with injuries, and even if they return will they be full strength? Still, defense wins championships and Kansas has a solid defense. Ranked 20 in BPI and with some impressive wins, Kansas should still absolutely be able to make some noise in the tournament.
