Wow, what a first-round matchup Michigan State had against the other (inferior?) MSU. It just goes to show that no matter what happens in the regular season Izzo is not someone you want to be going up against in March.

While they are slight underdogs in their matchup against one-seeded UNC, I think there could be some value on MSU in this one. While UNC has slight advantages in offensive and defensive rating, the gaps are not huge. Michigan State this year has been more efficient from the floor, shooting both 2s and 3s at a better clip than UNC. Tyson Walker remains one of the better players in the country, and the supporting cast runs deep like the Mariana Trench. MSU might be one of the best-coached teams in this tourney, and we know favorites have been struggling this year. I might sprinkle Michigan State in this one.
