Game Analysis:
It’s hard to not get excited for a top 15 SEC showdown if you’re a college football, and that’s exactly what we have in week 10, as the 14th ranked Missouri Tigers visit the top ranked, and back to back reigning national champion Georgia Bulldogs. The Georgia Bulldogs enter this matchup 8-0, and have just completely blitzed their way through their opponents so far, with just one game being decided by one score. The Missouri Tigers enter 7-1, and have bounced back very nicely with two straight blowout wins following their first loss, and have catapulted up the AP poll as a result, just in time for their biggest game of the year. If they were to somehow pull off the massive upset, they would find themselves in the driver’s seat of the SEC East, and would instantly be inserted into legit playoff consideration.
The Missouri Tigers couldn’t have asked to be in a much better position than they find themselves in right now, as they control their destiny moving forward, at least in the SEC, and are fresh, coming off a bye week, for their biggest game of the season. This is in addition to the momentum they have from their last 2 games. The most recent one, was a 34-12 home win against South Carolina. The defense was dominant, especially in the red zone, not allowing a single touchdown. Meanwhile, the offense was led by RB Cody Schrader, who carried the ball 26 times for 159 yards and 2 touchdowns. WR Luther Burden also continued his fantastic season with 4 receptions for 90 yards and another touchdown. While this team has passed most of their tests with flying colors so far, nothing will compare to what they will face in this game against the back to back reigning national champions.
It feels like with how dominant Georgia has been over the last few seasons, we’ve just gotten so accustomed to it that we kind of let them fly under the radar. And yet at the end of the day, this is a team who has gone wire to wire as the top ranked team, and looked pretty dominant doing it. The injury to superstar TE Brock Bowers doesn’t help, but they have enough firepower on both sides of the ball to at least get through the rest of the regular season unscathed. This team is coming off a 43-20 road win at Florida, in which they gave up an opening score touchdown, but absolutely dominated afterwards. QB Carson Beck was great, going 19/28 for 315 yards and 2 touchdowns. RB Daijun Edwards led the way in the rushing game, with 95 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns on 16 carries. This is a complete team all around, and I believe they have yet to play their best football, but they certainly can’t look past this Mizzou team. I think the Bulldogs at home will be too much for Mizzou to handle, but we’ve seen crazier upsets before.
