Game Analysis:

In this week 9 matchup, we have a potential contender for game of the week, as the Seattle Seahawks travel to Baltimore to take on the Ravens. Both teams are coming in off several straight wins, and sit at the top of their division as of now. The 5-2 Seahawks are coming off of a thrilling last minute win last week against the Browns, while the 6-2 Ravens handled the Cardinals in Arizona to increase their winning streak to three games. In a showdown of two hot teams, only one can come out on top and keep the momentum rolling, so let’s take a look at each team.

The visiting Seattle Seahawks have won 5 out of their last 6 games in large part due to the defensive improvement they have shown as the year has gone on. It also helps that rookie first round pick, WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba has became more involved in the offense lately, with a touchdown in each of his last two games, including the game winner against the Browns last week in the final minute to lead his team to a 24-20 win. QB Geno Smith is having a solid season, but if there’s one area of his game he’d like to see improve, it is limiting turnovers, as he has thrown 6 interceptions this season already. WR Tyler Lockett is also coming off a big game, with 8 receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown. Running backs Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet combined for over 100 yards on just 13 total carries, so the Seahawks should look to establish the running game early in a tough matchup at Baltimore.

The Baltimore Ravens have bounced back from their embarrassing week 5 loss to the arch rival Pittsburgh, winning three straight and looking like a complete football team. The emergence of RB Gus Edwards over the past few weeks has helped this running game, as he rushed for 3 touchdowns last week in a 31-24 win at Arizona. The defense was mostly dominant, prior to giving up a few scores in garbage time. When this time is playing well and healthy, they’re as big of a threat as anyone in the NFL, and right now they really look like a juggernaut. I think they are the more well rounded team in this matchup and I expect them to pull out a home victory, but it will not be easy and I expect a very close game.
