Game Analysis:
The Clippers are absolutely demoralized and defeated. The only thing that’s left to do for the Suns is wrap this series up in the Footprint Center. As much as basketball fans were incredibly excited for a fast-paced, high-octane, back-and-forth series between these two teams, once Kawhi subbed himself out for the series that pretty much ended it. Not to be a monster, but let’s see what the Suns can do against the Nuggets.
If this Clippers team was at 100% or even 90% I’d be a whole lot more scared than I am right if I’m a Suns fan. But the simple fact of the matter is, whether through injury or personal reasons, the Clippers are absolutely not at full strength. Paul George and Kawhi Leonard are both not playing in this pivotal game five, and that is the reason why the Clippers cannot win. I love that Westbrook is scoring 37 points, grabbing 6 boards, and dishing 4 assists while making some awesome defensive plays. But if that’s the type of production you’re requiring from this year’s Brodie, then good luck winning any playoff games. Ivica Zubac has been a complete no-show offensively even though banging up Deandre Ayton would be immensely helpful. And Marcus Morris, when given that increase of minutes thanks to Batum’s suggestion, not only didn’t help the team but pretty much actively hurt it. Marcus had the worst +/- on the roster by far and shot 3 for 13 on the night. Big yikes.
The Suns don’t have to worry about any of their depth players trying to be superstars because their superstars actually play in games, and boy do they play in those games well. In game four Booker and Durant both had 30+ point games on super-efficient nights. Kevin Durant backed that scoring performance up with 11 boards as well. Never a bad night when your most efficient scorer also decides to clean the glass. And I could talk about the scoring presence that is Devin Booker but that is all anyone talks about. Let’s have some fun here. Did you know that Chris Paul had not only 3 steals in game four, but he also had 3 blocks? Yea, that’s right. 37 yeard-old, 6’0” Chris Paul blocked three shots in a game of basketball. What’s that saying about aging and wine?
This series will end in the gentleman’s sweep we all expected in Pheonix. The Clippers are not taking another game from the Suns. Bet on the Suns, and get $100 in bonus bets instantly!
