Game Analysis:
After an alright week two College football slate, we have some banger games to watch in week three. There is nothing quite like watching a game between two schools with storied programs, and one of those such games is occurring this weekend between the 11th-ranked Tennessee Volunteers and the Gators of Florida. Here is what you should know.
This is going to be an interesting season for Florida, I can already tell. While they dominated their week two game against McNeese State, I think there are more takeaways from their loss to Utah in week 1. Sure the game ended as a loss, but they played a close game against a very good Utah team. Tennessee is touted as such a strong offense, but what people don’t realize is that Florida averages less than ten fewer yards a game, and their passing attack has been much more successful so far this season. Graham Mertz has been solid this year, really being helped out by standout wide receiver Ricky Pearsall. Travis Etienne’s younger brother, Trevor, also has been good, but the running back room at Florida has been really splitting their touches as they have three different running backs who have found their way into the endzone. Will this be enough for the Gators to defend the Swamp against the Vols?
If you ask me I would say probably not, I mean the Volunteers are ranked this high for a reason. While their passing game has been a little lackluster so far this season, the Vols have one of the best run games in the nation averaging over 250 rushing yards a game which puts them in 10th in College Football. They also have a solid defense, maybe not quite as good as Florida but they should be able to make up for it with their defense that is more explosive than me after Chipotle. Joe Milton has been solid, but his limiting of turnovers has been impressive. Ramel Keyton is looking really good, and man has Jaylen Wright been solid on the ground, averaging over 115 yards per game rushing. Give me the Vols in this one, I don’t think they can be stopped by this Gators team.
