Game Analysis:
The Bills are one of the best teams in the NFL there is no doubt about that, but let’s not pretend that the Steelers haven’t gotten better in the offseason. While Josh Allen continues to showcase to the world how he is unable to win any meaningful games the Steelers have quietly accrued talents whether through the draft or trades. Their young core could be super exciting to watch this preseason so honestly, I could see this game going either way. I think I’d still side with the Bills, but let’s be real, anything can happen in preseason.
The Steelers have definitely gotten themselves some talent in the offseason this year. I love the young core of guys they’ve been able to pull together these past couple of years. Kenny Pickett, while having hands smaller than my two-year-old cousin, could make some noise in the NFL this year. He was a stud coming out of college (because duh he got drafted), and I don’t see why he would slow down now. Give him an offseason with first-team reps, and no one breathing down his neck and voila, you could have a legitimate QB. I also really like the wide receiver room this team has. Guys like Diontae Johnson and George Pickens are gonna be menaces this year now that they’re in lock and step with Kenny. I also love, as every other football fan does, Najee Harris, who is a beast of a running back out of Bama who hasn’t been precisely the animal he was promised to be, but with an upgraded offensive line, and a dual-threat QB, this man is bound to be an offensive monster for this Pittsburgh team. And I would be remiss to try and talk about the Steelers without bringing up their defense. TJ Watt is going to be setting all kinds of records this year. That is something that you can, responsibly, bet on.
The Bills are definitely still the great team that they’ve always been. Their backfield consists of Damien Harris and James Cook who have already done some damage in this league, and will continue to do said damage for at least a few more years. Their wide-receiving core is still the same wide-receiving core that has allowed them to make multiple playoff runs in the past. Players like Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis who are fantasy owner’s saviors and night terrors at the same time make up the depth in that position. And their Quarterback is Josh Allen who I feel I don’t need to discuss too much at length because he’s Josh Allen. I mean he’s the cover athlete of Madden, and ever since Tom Brady broke that curse that means he has to be amazing. Right? Plus with this defense, it’s yet another year where the Bills see themselves in a championship-or-bust type of season. I will say it is the preseason so these guys may get limited snaps, if any, and when push comes to shove that’s one of the biggest reasons why this game could go either way.
The Bills and Steelers in this preseason matchup are more evenly matched than you think. Bet on either team and get your own Friday Beers merch!
