Game Analysis:
What a crazy NCAA Baseball season it has been, with upsets, controversies, and amazing highlight plays. As the season winds down the playoffs begin, and 8 teams head to Omaha to play for the coveted National Championship. Here is what you need to know.
First let’s talk about who I think some pretenders are in this tournament. First up in TCU. Sure they made it to Omaha and were great at home, but the Horned Frogs are 13-11 in conference, and 10-9 on the road. They honestly were not expected to be here, and had to rattle off 11 straight wins to secure their first appearance in the College Baseball World Series since 2017. While they’re hot I don’t think this team will make it too far. Another team is Tennessee. They barely made it to Omaha, barely went above .500 in the SEC, and have a first round matchup against LSU. They could prove me wrong though, because when this team is hot, they’re scorching.
Now I’ll give a couple middle of the pack teams. The first of these is UVA. They were great in conference and at home, but struggled on the road. They have a few studs and couple absolutely make some noise, and they’re tied for fourth in odds to win the championship for a reason. Another team is Oral Roberts. They have a stellar record and some solid players, but just don’t have the baseball pedigree some of these other schools do, as well as a much weaker strength of schedule. At +2200 there might be some value though.
Now for the favorites. Obviously I need to talk about Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons are insane, and the favorites to win the series for a reason. They finished their season 52-10, beat some stiff competition, and have a roster filled with MLB level talent with prospects left and right. LSU is also up there. At 48-15, LSU dominated one of the best conferences in college baseball finishing at the number seven slot on the season. They’re good against non conference opponents and at neutral sites, which should translate to them performing very well in Omaha.
