Game Analysis:

Ladies and gentlemen we are in for a treat! In a divisional showdown in the NL Central the 56-48 2nd place Reds of Cincinnati will be travelling to Chicago to take on the 3rd place 51-51 Cubs. Here is what you need to know about this matchup taking place in one of America’s most historic ballparks.

Man these Cubs are hot! As of the time of writing they’re on a six game winning streak and have won 8 of their last 10. They’re tied for seventh in runs scored per game and 14th in runs allowed per game. The team is hitting over .250 as a whole and has a pitching ERA of 4.12. They do a good job of limiting the long ball only allowing 109 home runs all season. Nico Hoerner, Cody Bellinger, and Christopher Morel have led the team offensively with batting averages of .280, .317, and .281 respectively, and including them the Cubbies have 9 players batting above the .250 mark. Stroman, Steele, and Hendricks have been great starters, and while their relievers and closers have struggled a little the bullpen overall has been more than serviceable. This is a hot team at home fighting to stay in contention. How do the Reds stack up?

Now the Reds are six wins away from matching their win total from last year, and it’s not even August. This team was infused with young cheap talent, and man oh man is it paying off. They’re currently a Wild Card team despite their divisional struggles, and honestly I would not be surprised if they snuck into the playoffs this year. On paper they’re a mediocre team, but c’mon this is baseball, sure numbers matter but this team has that IT factor we see every year from a team we didn’t expect. They’re tied for a top ten spot in runs scored a game, top 15 in batting average, and top 10 in OBP. Pitching has been rough but it doesn’t matter if you let up five runs if you score six. TJ Friedl, Matt McLain, and Will Benson have been awesome and Elly De La Cruz is the most exciting young player to watch in baseball. I think this team is going to turn it on in these last weeks of the regular season and it starts here. Remember to always gamble responsibly and take my advice with a grain of salt (or two), but I like the Reds here.

This will be a fantastic series to watch. I like the Reds, but bet on either team and get your own Friday Beers merch!
