Game Analysis:
The Cubs against the Tigers is not gonna be a very pretty matchup. The Chicago Cubs are a team that’s actually fighting to keep their season alive at this point in the year. They have a great group of guys with a really solid chance of punching their ticket into this year’s MLB offseason. The Detroit Tigers are nowhere near the same level as the Cubs. They are overmatched and they’re going to be outdueled. There will be genuine shock on my face if the Cubs lose this matchup.
The Detroit Tigers are not a team that’s on their way to a post-season series. They currently sit at 55 and 67, eight and a half games behind their division leaders. They haven’t been in the habit of winning series’ at any point in this year’s season and that’s the main reason they find themselves in this position in the first place. Them going up against the Cubs right now feels like a man trying to fight a Tsunami. They’re just going to get swept away. That’s not to say nothing about this team is good. For instance, I love their first baseman Spencer Torkelson who has been crushing the hitting side of baseball this year. And I mean literally crushing it. The man has 21 home runs, and 66 RBIs this year with no chance of slowing down. But outside of him I just don’t know what to make of this Tiger’s team.
The Chicago Cubs on the other hand are 62 and 59 with a real chance of snagging a wildcard spot this year. They’re already a better team with a much bigger motivating factor to have them win these games. I can’t imagine a world in which these Cubs don’t get the series win in this matchup. Christopher Morel and Dansby Swanson have been on fire in regard to the hitting side of the game. They have 19 and 18 home runs respectively and both have hit the 60 RBI point this season. Plus, both of these guys have a batting average of .250, which is amazing considering how well they’re able to hit the ball when they make contact. It also never hurts to have a guy named Patrick Wisdom swinging the ball for your club when he has 21 dingers of his own to account for.
The Cubs are a more motivated and better team than the Tigers. Bet on Chicago and get your own Friday Beers merch!
