Game Analysis:

I don’t really know why I’m built this way, but I just love watching a team that very few people had faith in just come out guns blazing. The Sacramento Kings were that team in the NBA this season, and I quickly learned everything there was to know about that roster from Domantas Sabonis to Chimezie Metu. In this year’s MLB season, it has been the Arizona Diamondbacks who have taken the league by storm. They have been so much fun to watch, and I do not see the Angels slowing them down anytime soon.

The Los Angeles Angels are the definition of a top-heavy roster. It’s either Shohei Ohtani, Mike Trout, or bust. Now, before I go on I do have to preface this. That is by no means a bad strategy in today’s MLB. I truly believe that Shohei Ohtani could play every position on the field by himself and win at least a few games against a full team of MLB players. I don’t know what he eats or drinks or whatever but this guy doesn’t miss. This season alone he has 28 home runs (an MLB best), a .304 batting average (wow), 64 RBIs (another MLB best), and a .384 on-base percentage. I wish I had a more extensive vocabulary so I could better put into words how utterly insane that series of stats are, but I simply don’t. It also gets even worse, he is also an elite pitcher. He is quite literally the best hitter in the league right now while also pitching double-digit strikeout games. He can’t be human. If there was anyone to have a top-heavy roster with, it’s him. Oh, and Mike Trout’s ok too I guess. He’s probably the only guy in the MLB who would be disappointed with his 17 homers and 41 RBIs this far into the season.

So I know what you might be screaming at your screens right now. Ace, if the Diamondbacks are going up against the Terminator and Thanos combined what hope do they have of winning? Well, in order to answer that question I will steal a quote from the man who beat Thanos; “together”. The Diamondbacks have arguably the best all-around roster in the MLB right now and their consistent talent that’s spread throughout the roster will beat one guy with talent any day. The Diamondbacks are one of the few teams that have five guys with eleven or more home runs this season. So instead of one guy stepping up to the plate and hitting a home run, they have a line of guys who will just one after the other walk up to the plate and send one yard. What’s even better is that these hitters also all have a very solid batting average, so it won’t be just once a game all these guys send a baseball upstairs, it’ll be more than once a game. And that ladies and gentlemen is this team’s secret to success. Just have a litany of consistent, elite-level hitters. Not that hard!

The Diamondbacks have a better roster and a better record than the Angels. Bet on Arizona and get your own Friday Beers merch!
