Game Analysis:

I don’t really know why I’m built this way, but I just love watching a team that very few people had faith in just come out guns blazing. The Sacramento Kings were that team in the NBA this season, and I quickly learned everything there was to know about that roster from Domantas Sabonis to Chimezie Metu. In this year’s MLB season, it has been the Arizona Diamondbacks who have taken the league by storm. They have been so much fun to watch, and I do not see the Mets slowing them down anytime soon.

Man it must be tough being a Mets fan. From one of the most exciting off seasons we’ve seen in a long while, to 4th in the NL East in July with a record of 37-46. They had all of the hype but reality quickly set in and things are not looking good. They’re in the bottom half in runs scored per game with 4.4, but also almost in the bottom ten in runs allowed with 4.7. They only have 8 hits a game on average and allow 8.3. Despite the Diamondbacks having somewhat of a lackluster pitching staff and defense, I just don’t think they’ll be able to keep up with their high powered offense. That being said, Brandon Nimmo has been a bright spot hitting over .280 with 11 home runs, but only two of their rotation pitchers have under a 4.00 ERA, and none of them have less than a 3.50. I’ll be honest with you Mets fans, it’s not looking good.

Now on the other hand, the Diamondbacks might be one of the happiest fan bases around right now. They sit at 50-34, and first in an absolutely stacked NL West. They’re winning in a super tough division, and currently boast one of the most impressive records in baseball with their 50 wins. They might sweep the Angels, they’re top five in runs scored a game with 5.1, they’re top five in hits a game with almost 9, and they’re a top five batting average team with a team average of .263. That’s just good baseball being played. Last season they finished with a .457 win/loss record, and this season they’re almost at .600. What an amazing turnaround and they have these guys to thank. Ketel Marte has been hitting the piss out of the ball, as has Corbin Carroll, Emmanuel Rivera, and Geraldo Perdomo. Nine players on their roster are hitting over .250, and 2 of their starting pitchers have sub 3.25 ERAs. This team has an electric offense and a solid defense and pitching staff. I think they should win this series, and they absolutely have a shot at sweeping the sorry Mets. Go Snakes!

The Diamondbacks have much a better roster and a better record than the Mets. Bet on Arizona and get your own Friday Beers merch!
