Here is what you need to know about this sweet offer, and the series between the Cleveland Guardians and the Oakland Athletics.
Let’s get gritty here. Both of these teams are under .500, with one of them being well under that mark. The Oakland Athletics have been one of the more controversial sports teams this year, as disputes with ownership, fans, and the city of Oakland have put a mark on this franchise as it seems ownership is trying to force their way into a move. They haven’t spent much money on the team or the stadium, and fans are fed up. Many have been protesting but a recent reverse boycott showed the world that A’s fans still care about their team. They went on a nice 7 game win streak and have a little life, but this team is still bad. Their record is currently 19-55 and they have lost five games in a row. The A’s are dead last in both runs scored a game and runs allowed, further solidifying themselves as the worst team in baseball.
Now the Guardians are by no means amazing, but I think they should absolutely be able to win this series, if not sweep it. Cleveland is a better team in almost every single statistical category, scoring more and allowing less. While they don’t have the high powered offense of some other teams, the Guardians are guarding the plate pretty well, only allowing 4.2 runs a game which puts them in the top 10 in the MLB. The team has a combined 3.88 ERA which is very solid. I think their superior stats combined with how awful the A’s have been recently and the fact that the game is in Cleveland should result in the Guardians inching their way closer to .500.
