Game Analysis:
This is the endgame baby. As time winds down in the MLB season, teams will do anything they can to win both games and series. This looks to be one of the closer matchups of the upcoming week and weekend as the Cleveland Guardians take on the Toronto Blue Jays. I have a feeling that the Guardians may come out on the winning end of this matchup, and not just because they will get demoralized in their upcoming series against the Orioles. This Cleveland team is only six wins away from clinching a divisional bypass to the playoffs at the time of writing this, a feat quite feasible in baseball.
The Toronto Blue Jays have been a good team this year, however, good has not been good enough in their stacked American League East Division though. They still sit third, and 7.5 games back. Plus the teams that they’re trying to gain on are two of the best in baseball right now. The Baltimore Orioles and the Tampa Bay Rays. I’m not saying it’s impossible but you’d probably have more luck trying to stay dry while swimming in the middle of the Atlantic. Having said that, they do have some talent on their team. I mean you have to have some talent when eight different guys on your team have double-digits in home runs. And, of course, when one of those guys is Vladi Guerrero Junior.
The Blue Jays are a good team for sure but the Guardians have something they may never have. Hope. The Guardians have a real chance to get the top seed in their division since the only team they are chasing is the Minnesota Twins. Not only do they have this sense of hope, but they also have the ability to capture it. Jose Ramirez has been a menace on the plate this season. He has had 18 home runs, 67 RBIs, and a batting average of .280. Those are the numbers needed to capture that division title. It also doesn’t hurt to have first baseman Josh Naylor on the team who has had 79 RBIs of his own. This team has been running on belief and team spirit long before this playoff push, and that will only help boost them now.
The Guardians have a real chance to win their division title. Bet on Cleveland and get your own Friday Beers merch!
