Man this should be a fun series to watch! We have the Phillies of Philadelphia travelling to Cleveland Ohio to take on the Guardians in a cross conference matchup. With some great hitting and pitching I bet these games will be great, so here is what you should know before you take advantage of this sweet offer from BetMGM.
Let’s start by talking about the Guardians. Despite being 2 games back of .500 at the time of writing, they’re second in their division and only a game and a half behind the Twins. While they have greatly struggled to produce runs unlike me after Chipotle, they have a top ten defense only allowing 4.2 runs a game which puts them tied for 8th in the MLB. They also have a top ten pitching staff in terms of ERA, and their opponents struggle hitting home runs off their pitching. While their offense is not amazing, Josh Naylor, Jose Ramirez, and Steven Kwan have been amazing all hitting over .269 with 30 home runs between the three of them. Pitching is where they really excel, with studs on the bump like Bieber, Bibee, and Civale pitching very well as starters, and bullpen guys like Curry, Morgan, and Sandlin really holding it down in the later innings. Will the Guardians’ stellar defense be enough to make up for a lack of offense and win them this series?
If you ask me I don’t think it will. The Phillies average a half run more a game, and only allow .3 more runs a game. They’re 51-42 10.5 games back in a very competitive NL East. As a matter of fact, the Guardians while 2nd in their division would be 4th in the NL East. Philly gets on average 9 hits a game which is tied for fourth in the MLB, and only allows 8.2 hits a game. They’re better than the Guardians in almost every single offensive category, and not much worse in many of the defensive. Anchored offensively by studs like Trea Turner, Nick Castellanos, Brandon Marsh, and Bryce Harper, these guys mash and are extremely fun to watch. On the other side of the ball the pitching is not great, but still serviceable like my social skills the moment women enter the room. Nola and Wheeler are still solid, and Alvarado is great down the stretch. I think this teams led by its’ high powered offense should be able to win this series in Cleveland.
