Game Analysis:

Did I hear that two top American League teams are going head-to-head? Sign me up. The top of the American League West Division against the top of the American League Central is the baseball that I’ve signed up to see. And honestly, even though the Guardians are slight underdogs in this series, I think they have the tools to win it. Give me Cleveland and let’s get crazy.

The Rangers will give the Guardians a good game. There is no doubt about that. However, they haven’t won a series since they played the White Sox, and playing a team that is top a division does not seem like the best way to break that streak. I personally would not be in the most positive spirits if my team was going up against the Guardians after failing to win five series in a row. But hey, maybe that’s just me. One thing this team does know how to do though is hit ding-dongs and hit them efficiently. But let Adolis Garcia hit his 23 home runs, and let Josh Jung hit his 19 moon shots, if your fielding is poor then that all doesn’t matter. So far this season the Rangers have lost games when they’ve scored 11 runs, seven runs, and six runs. That is all game-winning offensive production with zero fielding ability to back it up. As much as I want to look at the Ranger’s explosive offense and good record and agree with the oddsmakers, I just can’t do it, I think they’re a glass giant that Cleveland can easily smash into pieces.

The Guardians have also been a good baseball team this year. I mean they’re the best team in their division. And, unlike their Western counterparts, they have been winning a majority of their most recent series, and when their offense is firing and giving them a lead their fielding is actually good enough to maintain and even lengthen that lead as the game develops. Speaking of offense, and specifically batting, Jose Ramirez and Josh Naylor have been, well, nails. Jose Ramirez has 14 home runs this season, but his more impressive stat is the 53 runners that he’s brought in. Similarly, Josh Naylor has 11 home runs, but 64 RBIs which puts him at fifth in the entire league in that category. That to me sounds like great team baseball, but hey I’m just a beat writer.

The Guardians have all the momentum and a complete team heading into this series. Bet on Cleveland and get your own Friday Beers merch!
