Game Analysis:

It’s a matchup of underperforming NL teams looking for a last ditch run to somehow sneak their way into the Wild Card conversation. The Mets will be travelling down to St. Louis to take on the Cardinals, and we have a sweet offer for you from our friends at BetMGM. Here’s what you should know to make the most out of this dope offer.

Ahh the Cardinals. An alright offense with a poor defense has led to a 54-67 record but honestly the Wild Card is still in the cards so to speak. The Cardinals have some of the best batting averages as a team in the league, tied for top five to be precise. Pitching is not their strong suit, but I can’t judge because I’m a blogger and my baseball career ended before I graduated high school as did most of my readers if I had to guess. Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt are still studs, Lars Nootbaar continues to be very good, but a lot of the Cards’ good players are hurt right now. Unfortunately Waino seems to be really struggling this season but he is an all timer and his retirement will be a sad one. Will this banged up and older Cardinals team be able to defend their home turf and beat the Mets?

If you ask me I would say no. While the Mets have struggled a bit more offensively, they do have the better defense in this matchup. Despite trading away some of their stud pitchers, their bullpen remains alright especially because of Kodai Senga and his 3.30 ERA. Lindor has been a bit disappointing but is playing alright, 22 home runs ain’t shabby. Brandon Nimmo has been good, as has Jeff McNeil. Sure this team is probably about to enter a long and somewhat painful rebuild, (sorry Mets fans) but there is still a possibility if they really get lucky they can sneak into the Wild Card. Long shot sure, but crazier things have happened.

I like the Mets, but hey I’ve been wrong before. Bet on either team and get your own Friday Beers merch!
