Game Analysis:
The MLB All Star Weekend is probably the only All Star weekend I really care about in any sport. Sure, a lot of that is due to the Home Run Derby but the actual game is pretty sick. Let’s break down the AL and NL teams.
There were some last minute shake ups, but both squads are looking good now that they’re final. Of course Los Angeles and Atlanta have huge presences with the likes of Sean Murphy, Freddie Freeman, Arcia, Acuna, Betts, Martinez and more. I mean, 6 starters are from these two teams. While the pitching is solid I think they really excel on the offensive side of the ball. They have some serious sluggers like I named on their starters but also Pete Alonso, Castellanos, Matt Olson, and Juan Soto. Despite some weakness on the pitching staff they’ve got some studs like Zac Gallen, Mitch Keller, and Josh Hader. This team is solid, but are they good enough to beat the AL?
If you ask me the answer is no. Now everyone knows that the NL can never really hold a candle to the AL. Sure they might win a Championship every once in a long while, but people understand that the AL is the superior conference. Let’s start by talking about the offense. We have a lottt of Rangers on this squad, with players like Marcus Semien, Josh Jung, and Heim, accompanied by players like Shohei and Arozarena. While their batters a good, they’re not great and they will probably be carried by the pitchers. Shohei is pitching along with Cole, Castillo, and Gray while the relief pitchers boast names like Jansen and Bautista. I think that the AL is the more well rounded team and should probably take the win in this year’s MLB All Star Game.
