Game Analysis:

Man the All Star Weekend was pretty sweet but I’m ready for more regular season baseball. After the first half of the season the Phillies are currently 48-41 while the Padres are 43-47. Here’s what you should know to responsibly make the most out of this offer from BetMGM.

Wow have the Padres been such a consistently disappointing team. With names like Juan Soto, Manny Machado, Tatis Jr, Xander Bogaerts, Blake Snell, Joe Musgrove, and Yu Darvish, this team should be amazing right?? I mean that sounds like an All-Star team, not a sub .500 ball club that is almost in the bottom of their division. Despite the star power this Padres team is just mediocre, boasting a middle of the pack offense with most of their wins coming as a result of pitching and defense as they only allow 4 runs a game. They’re a top six team in both ERA and WHIP, also coming in the top five in BAA with an allowed opponent batting average of just .237 which is very solid. Tatis has been one of the few offensive bright spots on this team, hitting at a .288 clip with a team leading 16 home runs despite missing the first part of the season to suspension. Snell, Wacha, and Musgrove have been the studs for starting pitching with the highest ERA out of that group being 3.29. Pitching is definitely this team’s strong suit, but they need their offense to wake up if they want a shot at beating this Phillies team.

Now honestly I think the Phils should be able to defend their home turf fairly well this series. They average the same amount of runs as the Padres, but have a bit worse of a defense. The Phils on average get 1.2 more hits a game, have a team batting average that is .023 higher than the Padres, and a significantly better record. The Padres struggle on the road while the Phillies play very well at home. While Schwarber has had a disappointing first half of the season, Castellanos, Stott, Bohm, and Harper have played very well. Six players on their team are hitting over .250, and four of their starting pitchers have an ERA of 4.05 or lower. Kimbrel has been reliable with his saves and middle relievers have been more than serviceable. While full of stars the Phillies might not have the name power of the Padres, but they have a better record and look on pace to make and do some damage in the postseason. I think both teams continue on their current trends resulting in the Phillies taking this series.

Don’t miss a great NLCS rematch, and if you’re going to bet on this series, please do it responsibly.

Bet on either side and get your own Friday Beers merch!
