Man the Pirates really did start out hot but cooled down quick. They’re now 44-57 and 5th in the NL Central. With the emergence of Elly De La Cruz, it seems like everyone has forgotten about the other young exciting Cruz who is currently injured. Despite having below average offense and defense, the Pirates still find ways to win. Bryan Reynolds and Andrew McCutchen have been solid, as have Mitch Keller, Dauri Moreta, and David Bednar. Overall runs scored and allowed the Phillies are pretty middle of the pack, but they get a lot of hits and don’t allow their opponents many. The pitching has been above average with a combined ERA of 4.04 compared to the Pirates 4.55, with a whip of 1.24. The Phillies have the star power with Trea Turner, Nick Castellanos, a struggling Kyle Schwarber, JT Realmuto, Brandon Marsh, and Bryce Harper. Austin Nola and Zach Wheeler have been great, and overall the starting pitching has been very good while the bullpen has been inconsistent. I think overall the Phillies are a more well rounded team and should have the advantage in this one, I like them to win the series.
