Game Analysis:

Philadelphia, is this it? Are we going to see this second-half surge that leads into the playoffs? Do we finally get to see these Phillies winning the World Series after the heartbreak last year? I don’t have the answers to those questions sadly, but I do know that this upcoming series against the Royals is all but confirmed to be a win for Philadelphia. You don’t need to be a prophet to see that. The Phillies are a good, honestly great, baseball team this season, and the Royals are the opposite of that.

I don’t know how long I’m legally required to talk about the Royals, but I hope it’s not long because today’s word of the day for them is abysmal. They are 32 and 75 on the season, and they are 22 games behind first place just in the American League Central division. I mean I guess they just swept the Twins, but they have to go up against the Mets before they play the Phillies so I can only imagine the demoralizing effect that series will have on them. If I have to shout out one player who is on the Royals I wouldn’t mind talking about their Shortstop Bobby Witt Jr who has 18 home runs, 60 RBIs, and a .263 batting average. All of these stats of course lead the team on the batting portion of the game. I won’t go out and say free my boy, but uh, he definitely doesn’t deserve this record.

The Philadelphia Phillies on the other hand are one of the two best teams in the National League’s East division. And for a good reason. They’ve recently won series’ against the Orioles and the Padres on their to owning a record of 57 and 49. Kyle Schwarber continues to be the most confusing batter in the entire MLB. He has 27 home runs, and 65 RBIs, which are really solid batting statistics to have; clearly, he can get hold of the ball when he steps up to the plate. But then you keep scrolling across his stats sheet and you see that he also has a batting average of .182. So this guy either sends the ball yard, or he misses the ball entirely and walks back to the dugout. I guess you take it when he gets those home run figures but my goodness is he a polarizing hitter. He’s joined by Nick Castellanos himself at the top of the batting stats sheet who has 14 homers of his own along with a .273 batting average. Two big-time hitters on a big-time team.

The Phillies are an infinitely better team than the Royals. Bet on Philadelphia and get your own Friday Beers merch!
