We have some August baseball as the Twins of Minnesota are hosting the Pirates of Pittsburgh. Sure it might not be the most exciting series based on names, but the Twins are looking to retain their divisional lead and the Pirates are still in the hunt for a wildcard spot. Here’s what you should know so you can responsibly make the most out of this sweet offer from our friends over at BetMGM.
Despite being 12 games under .500, the Pirates honestly can take a lot of good so far from this season. They started off looking kind of like the Orioles, a young upstart team finally turning the corner after being not so great for a while, but the second half of the season has NOT gone their way. They’ve struggled on the road and in the division, but the play of the now injured O’Neil Cruz and players like Jason Delay and Ke’Bryan Hayes have been bright spots. The pitching staff has struggled a bit, but the Pirates are always a threat to turn it on and can win any given series if things go right for them.
Now the Twins are poised to be a playoff team and possibly make a run. While their offense struggles just like me when I attempt to talk to women, their defense does quite the opposite. They only allow 4.1 runs a game which ties them for fourth in the MLB, and they only allow 8 hits a game which ties them for fifth. Pitching has been the strength for the Twins with studs like Sonny Gray, Bailey Ober, and Pablo Lopez shoving on a regular basis. While the offense isn’t stealing the show, a couple players have been exceptional like Donovan Solano, Edouard Julien, and Ryan Jeffers. Call me crazy, but I think the Pirates will be able to rise to this challenge and steal this series from the Twins. Take my picks with a grain of salt but there could be some value on the Pirates here.
