Game Analysis:

As the hunt for playoff spots heats up, we have an American League matchup to watch featuring the Sox and the Astros battling it out for some wildcard spots. Here is what you should know about a very important series so you can make the most out of this sweet offer from our friends at BetMGM.

It is crazy to me that the 74-58 Astros are third place in their division. They have a top ten offense and defense allowing 4.3 runs a game while scoring 5 of their own on average. They might not have as good of bats as the Sox, but their pitching and defense are definitely better as the Red Sox have one of the worst defenses in the league. Kyle Tucker is having a great year, as are Chas McCormick and Yanier Diaz. Justin Verlander was a great addition at the trade deadline and it is nice to see him back in H-Town. Despite having solid stats Framber Valdez is having some trouble getting wins as he is just 9-9 despite having a solid 3.40 ERA. Overall this team might not have the offensive firepower of the Sox, but will their superior defense be enough to win them this key series?

If you ask me I would say probably not. The Sox offense is just so good and so hot right now. They have a top three team batting average, and top five OBP, slugging, and OPS. They’re finally pretty healthy, and Chaim keeps finding these gems you have never heard of to come hit nukes for Boston. Dever has finally hit his strike, Turner has been an amazing veteran presence hitting almost .300, Verdugo is a star, Yoshida is proving to be worth every penny, and these young studs are so good. Casas and Duran have really broken through, and Brayan Bello seems to be the next home grown pitching star for Boston. Chris Sale is healthy and pitching well, the bullpen is solid, and Jansen is one of the best closers in the game today. Give me the Sox in this series.

I like the Red Sox in this one, but go with your gut! Bet on either team and get your own Friday Beers merch!
