Game Analysis:

Man the All Star Weekend was pretty sweet but I’m ready for more regular season baseball. After the first half of the season the Sox are currently 48-43 while the Cubbies are 42-47. Here’s what you should know to responsibly make the most out of this offer from BetMGM.

While the Cubs are a few games under .500 they’re still in third place in their division and only seven games back. They are in a competitive division with a lot of scrappy teams like the Reds and Brewers. By the runs scored metric the Cubs are tied for a top ten offense which kind of surprised me, they average 4.6 runs a game. On the other side of the ball they definitely have the advantage over the Red Sox as they only let up 4.3 runs a game compared to Boston’s 4.7. On the whole their pitching staff is more well rounded than the Sox’s, averaging a 4.00 ERA and .241 BAA compared to their opponents who have a 4.33 ERA and .253 BAA. Cody Bellinger has been a phenomenal addition, batting just a hair under .300, and including him the Cubs have eight players with batting averages over .250. Stroman and Steele have been exceptional on the bump, and overall while this team might be currently underachieving they’re pretty well rounded and a threat to win any game they play. Will they be able to beat the Boston Red Sox?

If you ask me I would say don’t count on it. While this has been a weird sort of bridge year for the Sox and they’re in last place in the division currently, this team has shown a lot of life and heart which shows in their above .500 record. In my “expert” opinion the AL East is probably the best division in all of sports which results in the Sox having a lot of games against pretty stiff competition. Nevertheless, Boston is tied for fifth in runs scored per game with 5, and tied for number three in the entire MLB for hits/game with 9. Their offense is absolutely better than Chicago’s, and I think the explosive bats will prove to be too much for the Cubbies to handle. Despite some struggles in the bullpen the Red Sox really do have a good starting pitcher rotation, headlined by the young gun Brayan Bello and the grizzled veteran James Paxton. Jansen has been a very good closer, but the middle relievers have been lackluster. Some great additions like Turner and Yoshida have really ignited this ball team on the offensive side of the ball, and Alex Verdugo continues to impress as young studs like Jarren Duran and Triston Casas take major strides. All in all I really enjoy watching this team and think they should be able to pull off the road series win at Wrigley.

Remember, always bet responsibly and please take my picks with a grain of salt.
