Game Analysis:
Two National League powerhouses going head-to-head. This will surely, be an all-time July Classic. Both teams have 50+ wins on their way to amazing seasons. They haven’t played each other yet so I’m sure the first game will be a lot of feeling each other out, but I think the Reds might have this one. I’m a little bit higher on their hitting and when teams are this evenly matched that’s usually what separates winners and losers.
The San Francisco Giants can not be underestimated. They are a very solid baseball team this season. They have multiple guys with 10+ home runs and a substantial amount of RBIs to go around. Their leaders in both stats are not as good as the Red’s but the numbers are still respectable. Michael Conforto holds the season-high in both with 13 home runs and 49 RBIs. Conforto also holds true to the theme that the San Francisco Giants have stats-wise, which is being good, not great, with a .244 batting average. The Reds once again have top hitters who hold better batting averages than the Giants. In truth, the only thing the Giants have on this Reds team that makes them appear as the favorites in this series is their record. And if we’re truly being honest with each other, when the Reds win this series that record will actually be even.
I have been alluding to this the entire article but the Reds have some amazing hitters, especially when comparing them to the Giants. Their best home run-getter, Spencer Steer, has more than the Giant’s leader with 14. But, the more impressive stat in my opinion is their RBI totals. They have two players on the team Jake Fraley and Spencer Steer, who have more than 50 RBIs this season already. Both of those stats top the Giant’s leader in RBIs. Spencer Steer’s batting average is .272, which is also better than Michael Conforto’s. This honestly might be the craziest case of ‘big-brothering’ that I’ve seen in sports ever. Spencer Steer is just that much better than Michael Conforto, and in a close matchup like this, there is a good chance that wins the Reds the game.
The Reds are a better team than the Giants in all but record. Bet on the Reds and get your own Friday Beers merch!
