Game Analysis:

What a series this will end up being. Two Ohio teams trying to get into or stay in the playoffs going head-to-head in one of the most crucial points of the season? Count me in. I won’t pretend to know which of these two teams will win this series, but I definitely can’t wait to watch. The Reds have a slightly better record in the slightly better division which has them sitting a little bit lower than the Guardians in said division.

The Cleveland Guardians have been on the hunt for the playoffs recently trying to claw their way into a wildcard spot. They’ve got themselves some solid hitters, with an even more solid hitting rotation. Players like Jose Ramirez with 18 home runs, 65 RBIs, and a batting average of .282, and Josh Naylor with 15 home runs, 79 RBIs, and a batting average of .306 are the centerpieces of said solid batting order. But they’re more key pieces of an engine rather than the engine themselves of this baseball team, which is part of the reason why they are so dangerous. Their fielding might not be what most in the MLB consider to be elite, however, their outfield is pretty lockdown with two total errors across all three positions back there.

The Cincinnati Reds also have a solid batting order with six players who have hit between 10 and 18 home runs, which is a stat very few teams can tout in the MLB. I would also like to point out that this team has hitters all above a batting average of .214. This doesn’t sound amazing, but when you realize that hitters like Kyle Schwarber have below a .200 batting average that all of a sudden sounds a lot more impressive. They also have a winning record, which again, is not super impressive, but the Guardians do not have that same luxury of a winning record so don’t be so quick to discredit the achievement. One thing I also love about the Reds is their distribution of RBIs. They don’t have just one player bringing everyone in, it’s a wide distribution of players who can bring runners home which is a powerful weapon to have.

These are two teams looking for a way to get or stay in the playoff picture. Bet on either team and get your own Friday Beers merch!
