Game Analysis:

Get ready for some must watch baseball as the Pittsburgh Pirates take on the Cincinnati Reds at PNC Park this Friday. This NL Central matchup could play a major role in the standings. With players like Gregory Polanco and Joey Votto leading the charge, we can expect this one to be high scoring. The Reds definitely have the advantage going into this game considering their record is above .500 and they are hitting an average of .250. On the other hand, the Pirates have had a below average season thus far. Their star Left Fielder, Bryan Reynolds, is batting .267, and they are currently 4th in the NL Central with a 51-62 record. I’m not sure who they could turn to but they are going to need someone to step up if they want to take this series against the Reds.

The Cincinnati Reds have had a solid performance so far this season. Their batting average might be on par with other teams in the league but their pitching might be an area of concern. The team averages a 4.83 ERA which definitely makes them a little vulnerable on the mound. They might have had some struggles on the bump but there is a pretty good chance that the Reds will be throwing Andrew Abbott this Friday. Abbott has a 2.93 ERA and has won 6 out of the 9 games he has pitched. If he ends up getting the start, I could see him tearing apart this Pirates offense.

The Reds are also coming off a tough loss to the Marlins and will be looking to bounce back. If they want a shot at catching the Brewers and winning the NL Central, they are going to need to regain some momentum. This series could be a perfect opportunity to get on top. Technically the pitcher for this upcoming matchup is still unknown, but I think the Reds will pull it off no matter who is on the bump. That being said, if Abbott does get the start, this game is an absolute lock. I’m taking the Reds straight up. They have the offensive prowess to blow the doors off the Pirates, and it’s pretty likely they’ll have a solid player getting the start.

The Reds are a better team with more motivation than the Pirates. Bet on Cincinnati and get your own Friday Beers merch!
