Game Analysis:
Let’s go! Another AL showdown so ladies and gentlemen crack a cold one, get set up on the couch, and turn on the Tigers and Twins. While the Twins currently lead the division the Tigers are definitely still in the hunt, so here is what you should know to responsibly make the most out of this sweet offer from our friends at BetMGM.
The Twins of Minnesota are having a pretty solid year. They’re two games clear of .500 with one of the best defenses in baseball. They only allow 4.1 runs a game which is third in the entire MLB. They don’t have the BEST offense, but they make up for it by having a sweet defense. Still, their lackluster offense is better than that of the Tigers in pretty much every statistical category. As a team, they have a sub 4 ERA which is always a good sign. They’re third in team WHIP, 1st in strikeouts through nine innings, and fifth in batting average allowed. That’s what I call a well-rounded defense. Edouard Julien has been a breakout player, but many of the other key starters on the Twins are struggling or injured. Will their patchwork lineup be enough to beat their divisional rivals?
Honestly I’m not sure. On paper the Twins are definitely better, but they’ve lost their last four games in a row, Carlos Correa has been bad, Joey Gallo has been terrible, and two of the three highest average batters on the everyday lineup are injured right now. The Tigers have struggled to find ways to score this season, but the Twins have recently as well. I mean, earlier this month they lost three out of four against the Tigers, who says the Tigers won’t be able to win the series this time? Riley Greene has been lights out at the plate, and Kerry Carpenter has been more than serviceable as well. All they need is a couple runs and their pitching/defense should be able to shut down this floundering Twins team. E Rod is having an amazing season, and if the bullpen and other starters can pull their weight they should be able to win this series.
The Tigers are gonna want these series wins more. Bet on Detroit and get your own Friday Beers merch!
