Game Analysis:

It’s the dog days of summer and all we have is baseball to watch. Well I’m here to tell you that is more than enough, and we have some great series coming up. This includes a great matchup between the Cubs and Yanks where the team from Chicago is travelling out East to visit the Bronx. Here is what you should know to responsibly make the most out of this sweet offer from our friends at BetMGM.

So the Cubs. They’re not awful, but they’re definitely not great. Currently they sit in fourth place in an alright NL Central division with a record of 39-45. They do have a better offense than the Yankees, sitting tied for 12th in runs per game compared to NY who is tied for 15th. They get more hits, have a higher team batting average, and overall just get on base more than their opponents. At 3-7 in their last ten, the Cubbies need to shake off the rust and get back to winning. Nico Hoerner has been solid with his .283 batting average, as have Cody Bellinger and Christopher Morel. The whole outfield has been hitting the ball well, and the Cubs of Chicago have a top 12 offense and defense based on runs scored and runs allowed. Not too shabby, but for some reason they’re still below .500 and haven’t figured it all out. Will this series against a slumpy Yankees offense be the one that does it?

Now while the Yankees have struggled on offense they’ve been a problem on the other side of the ball. They’re tied for third in the MLB in runs allowed per game with 4.0, have a team average ERA of just 3.67, and are very good on their home field. They only score .1 less runs a game than the Cubs, but allow .3 less. Only four players actively in the Yankees lineup are hitting above .250 but are still winning ball games. In a stacked AL East Division the Yankees are currently 10 games above .500 and still only in third place. A lot of their success can and should be attributed to their pitching staff, mostly Gerrit Cole who has an ERA of 2.79 and a record of 8-2. Their starters have been solid but the relievers and closers are lights out. This team can win with pitching and defense alone, and I think they will be able to get the job done against the Cubs.

The Yankees have much a better roster and a better record than the Cubs. Bet on New York and get your own Friday Beers merch!
