Game Analysis:
I’ll be the first to admit that the Yankees haven’t had the best season this year. They are sitting last in the American League East at a record of 60 and 63. However, they are better than the Washington Nationals. The Nationals have a worse record and the only thing that they want is high draft picks for their self-created rebuild that they’re in. I’m not even sure the Nationals will try to win this series, and again, the Yankees are a better team. Personally, I’d go with New York in this one.
Ever since the Washington Nationals traded away Juan Soto, they have been rebuilding, hoping to become the next Atlanta. However, they are nowhere near that stage in their rebuild yet. They are at the stage where they are casting their net out in the draft and hoping to catch something of worth. With a record of 56 and 68, and sitting bottom of the National League East they’re doing a great job of casting that net out as wide as they can. Is there whole entire team dog water? No, of course not, they have some individuals who have put up some solid numbers in the MLB as almost every team has. For instance, right fielder Lane Thomas has been putting up quite a solid array of hitting stats this year. So far he has 20 home runs, 69 RBIs, and a batting average of .287. Honestly, I’m surprised that he’s still rostered for the Nationals with those numbers. You’d think an actual team would have swung by and grabbed him out of the National’s clutches.
The Yankees, while disappointing, have a roster that should be more competitive this season. And statistically, they have been more competitive than the Nationals. In the mere 69 games that Aaron Judge has batted in, he was already able to accumulate 24 ding dongs, 48 RBIs, and a batting average of .280. Imagine if this guy was able to play the whole entire season. My word would I be writing a different article right now. Beyond Judge, they also have guys like Gleyber Torres and Giancarlo Stanton putting in some absolute work in the batter’s box with 18 homers a piece, and both with at least 45 RBIs. The talent on this roster definitely does not match the record, and when this team is clicking on all cylinders they are downright scary to watch.
The Yankees have a better team than the Nationals this season. So bet on the Yankees and get your own Friday Beers merch!
